Welcome to LB's Sports Thoughts. This website is basically my first online blog where I will be sharing my thoughts on different news in sports, comparing athletes, citing trivia etc.
The sports world and the internet on a whole is full of trolls who talk recklessly all the time in hopes of achieving likes or notoriety but sometimes these trolls cross the line and when they do, it is important that someone checks them and reels them in. Last week on Twitter, a user by the name of @softcaramelkiss made some very rude and unnecessary remarks about the young child of NBA superstar Stephen Curry. When I say young, I mean really young - Riley turns 4 on July 19. Stephen Curry's sister, Sydel, decided to step in and defend her niece by letting the young man know she was not pleased with the comments he made. His tweet is seen below: As you can see, that's just rude and unnecessary, especially when you see that the tweet Sydel originally made was just a simple statement with not an ounce of ill intent. At first, Sydel was going to ignore the troll when she simply replied "We'll be gone Friday! Bless up!" but it must have been eating at her because several hours later she came back and the conversation below ensued. His first response just showed that he was an attention seeker. He tried to save face by acting like Sydel was being sensitive but she was right, everyone is different and there's no need to trash talk a three year old child. There's no need to trash talk anyone but a three year old is especially low.
Oh, he also got fired! Be careful what you put on social media guys and be respectful at all times. (While reading about blogging and how to create a successful blog, I encountered man tips to help mine grow. One of the tips I saw was the use of lists so here we have 12 sports trivia facts. Let me know in the comments which ones you knew before (if any). They were taken from a quiz of sports trivia questions I did recently and found interesting.
Also, share your own so other readers can learn as well! The closing moments of Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinal Playoff match up between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs has been the topic of much debate since it happened less than 24 hours ago. The reason for the debates is the slew of violations from both teams with the sport's fans from each side contending that the oppositions violations were more egregious. The Image Below Perfectly Sums Up All the Violations up For debate: There were maybe 2 more not included in this graphic but these are the main ones under discussion.
The first violation seen is Manu Ginobili stepping on the line on the inbound play which would have led to a technical foul and therefore a free throw for OKC. Next are the two fouls by Dion Waiters on Kawhi Leonard. Waiters elbows Ginobili while attempting an inbound pass while Leonard grabs the jersey of Russell Westbrook. The third violation is also a foul; some people Danny Green fouled Durant on the steal in the third window. The fourth is when a fan was holding Steven Adams' arm. From what I heard, the fan was falling and tried to break her fall by holding his arm. All in all, I think the violations all cancelled themselves out but I'm a huge fan of Russell Westbrook and by extension, the Thunder so I must admit there may be some bias on my part. Also, bad and missed calls are a part of every sport. Some fans are calling for the final seconds to be replayed but I do not agree with that because in such a case, the Spurs would have had much more time to draw up an elaborate play which could completely reshape the narrative of the series. I'm also a strong believer that even though some plays seem more pivotal than others, due to time constraints in sports such as basketball, a game is never lost on one play. The Thunder were a step ahead of San Antonio the entire night, more so when Westbrook was in the game. Spurs fans are looking for a bail out abecause their team underperformed after blowing the Thunder out by 32 points in game 1. Who's looking for ward to game 3? I know I am! |
