(While reading about blogging and how to create a successful blog, I encountered man tips to help mine grow. One of the tips I saw was the use of lists so here we have 12 sports trivia facts. Let me know in the comments which ones you knew before (if any). They were taken from a quiz of sports trivia questions I did recently and found interesting.

- Joe Louis had the longest heavyweight title run in professional boxing. He successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship 25 consecutive times in 11 years and 8 months
- Wilt Chamberlain averaged the highest PPG for a rookie in nba HISTORY. hE had 2707 points in his rookie season AND averaged 37.6 points per game that year.
- Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is by far the all time leader in career blocks(NBA). His 3830 career blocks is over 500 more than second place Dikembe Mutombo.
- Basketball was demonstrated at the 1904 Summer Olympics but was included as an official medal sport for the first time in 1936.
- Jim Brown led the NFL in rushing yards 8 of 9 years between 1957 and 1965
- Pele is the youngest person to play in a World Cup Final.
- He played for Brazil in the 1958 World Cup finals against Sweden. He was 17 years and 8 months old at the time.
- Jose Batista of Uraguay was sent off in the 56th second of a World Cup match against Scotland in 1986 and therefore holds the record for the fastest red card in World Cup competition
- Just Fontaine of France scored the most goals in a World Cup in 1958 - he scored 13 goals in the tournament.
- In 2010, South Africa became the first and only host country to be eliminated from the World Cup in the first round.
- The San Francisco 49ers matched the Chicago Bears' single season record of 56 fumbles in 1978 - exactly 4 decades later.
- Soccer - Like the goal posts and other players, the referee is considered a part of the game, therefore, if the ball ricochets off the referee and into the goal; the goal is awarded.
